Top Hat, Bow Tie
Saturday, May 1, 2010, Atchison, Kansas, probably Commercial Street. 11:10 a.m. This instant will live with me forever, not because it’s special, but because it’s ordinary, plain, and unplanned, a blink of an eye. An image is recorded. Suddenly, a lifetime passes. I have had tens of thousands of moments like this one, fractions of a second each, every one an indelible mark on my heart and mind. So many instants now have the signatures of others stamped on them as well. Smiles, tears, flavors, and surprises, all nothing more than instants in time, flickering images. What makes them special is how ordinary they are and who they are shared with. The blink of an eye.
These are what life is made of, my friend.

Nice hat!
