Going Around Together
It's quite a ride . . .
The French named it - “carrousel”, meaning “little battle”. This now-mild carnival ride was once equipment used to train soldiers for warfare.
If we instead refer to it as a merry-go-round, it regains a sense of innocence, of a world more at play and less at war. What we call things matters. What we call ourselves matters. What we call others matters. Just words, but words can shape our perceptions, distort and color our thoughts, and make the world seem entirely different even between you and me.
What you and I call each other tells us where we are as people and how we will always recognize each other. Write them down, memorize them, call me what you want me to be.
The words belong to you. And to me.
