1959
You had to be there. . .
I couldn’t possibly explain 1959 to you. It was so different from today that it would take years of study for it to make sense to a modern mind. We were under the constant fear of nuclear destruction, the space race was under way, rock and roll was new, and I was eight years old. Cars were massive rolling sculptures that cost small fortunes to buy and maintain.
Life was hard, society was conservative, repressive and unforgiving.
Pay attention to your world today. Take notes.
It likely will all be so foreign to your future self that you’ll be unable to explain it to the next generations.
It’ll seem like a dream.
Don’t sleep through it.
